Privacy policy
Marsadata is built to work without knowing who its visitors are. This page says exactly what is and is not recorded. Last updated 6 November 2026.
In short
- No visitor accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking scripts.
- Marsadata sets no cookies for visitors.
- Marsadata keeps no log of visitors’ internet addresses.
- The site is delivered by Cloudflare, which processes internet addresses to carry and protect the traffic.
- Your browser fetches the background map from a third party, which sees your address.
What stays in your browser
Two choices are stored in your browser’s local storage so that they are remembered on your next visit: light or dark theme, and the unit in which pay is shown (per hour, week or month). They are never sent to the server. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
How the site reaches you
Every page, the map layers (maps.marsadata.com) and the figures (api.marsadata.com) are delivered through the network of Cloudflare, Inc. To send you anything, that network necessarily receives your internet address, details of your browser and the address of what you ask for. Cloudflare processes them to carry the traffic and to protect the site against abuse, which includes limiting how many requests one address may send in a few seconds and, when a request looks automated, checking that it comes from a browser. Such a check can set a security cookie; an ordinary visit receives none. Cloudflare describes its handling of this data in its privacy policy.
The part of the site that runs on Cloudflare keeps no record of individual requests. When it fails to build a page it records the error, without your internet address, and Cloudflare deletes that record after seven days.
What the data server handles
The figures come from a server operated by Marsadata. Most requests are answered from a copy held by Cloudflare and never reach it. For those that do, Cloudflare passes on your internet address and the address of the data you ask for, and the server uses them as follows:
- Your internet address is held in memory for up to one minute to limit the number of requests one visitor can make. It is not written to disk.
- The server records each request for data with its address (which includes any words typed in the search box), the result and the time it took, without your internet address. These records are used to find faults and are deleted as the log rotates.
The background map
The map background is loaded by your browser directly from OpenFreeMap, which delivers it through Cloudflare. When you open a page with a map, those services therefore receive your internet address, details of your browser and the address of this site. Marsadata does not send them anything else. Their handling of that data is described in the OpenFreeMap privacy policy. Pages without a map (place pages, comparisons, sources) call no service other than this site’s own host names. Fonts are served from this site.
The data shown on the site
The figures are statistics for areas: counts, medians and averages published by public bodies. They do not describe identifiable people, households or businesses, and the publishers withhold figures that could. Marsadata shows withheld figures as withheld and does not try to reconstruct them.
Your rights
Because Marsadata keeps no account, no profile and no stored record tied to your internet address, it holds no personal data about you to show, correct or delete. For the network data Cloudflare processes, its privacy policy says how to exercise your rights.
Changes
If the site starts to record anything more, this page is updated first and the date at the top changes. The terms of use cover the other conditions of using the site.
